The GeoOttawa 2027 conference organizing committee invites members of the Canadian and international geotechnical communities to contribute papers for presentation at the conference. Of particular interest are submissions highlighting recent research developments and advancements in their respective fields of practice, as well as case histories dealing with the challenges of geotechnical problems.

Submission Details

Authors are invited to submit abstracts of a maximum of 300 words by December 16, 2026. Abstracts can be written in English or French.

Guidelines for the preparation and submission of technical papers will be posted in early 2027. Authors of accepted abstracts must submit their full papers by April 28, 2027. Authors are expected to present their paper during the conference.

Paper Submissions

Invitations for the submission of full papers will be sent by February 17, 2027 to authors whose abstracts are accepted by the conference's Technical Committee. All papers must be submitted through the GeoOttawa 2027 online paper management system by April 28, 2027. All authors must use the paper template and follow the guidelines provided when preparing their papers.

Registration Requirements

At the time of paper submission, one full conference registration must be completed by one of the authors. Note that authors are limited to two papers per registration. If your submission is not accepted by the Technical Committee, you will receive a full refund of your conference registration fees.

Details & Timeline

The GeoOttawa 2027 Technical Committee will review all papers for clarity, technical merit, and relevance to the conference. Our goal is to inform authors of their paper’s acceptance by June 23, 2027. In cases where the reviewing team feels revisions are necessary, online comments will be provided. All authors must submit a final paper by July 7, 2027.

 

GeoOttawa 2027 will include a poster session with dedicated time in the conference program. Authors can indicate their preference for oral or poster presentation when they submit their paper. The Technical Committee will also review all papers for final decisions on participation in the oral or poster presentation program.

 

During submission, authors will also be able to indicate if they would like to be considered for the Best Case Study Paper, Best Student Paper, or CARMA Best Paper in Rock Mechanics.

 

All accepted papers, for which at least one author has registered for the conference, will appear in the published proceedings of the conference – each attendee will receive the electronic proceedings as part of their registration package.
